In this newly created position, Iris will have ownership over DMCC’s stewardship role in gold and diamonds, including engagement with the industry, government and civil society.
Iris brings entrepreneurial skills, leadership qualities, and passion for sustainability from her extensive experience in the diamond and jewellery industries and her appointment reinforces DMCC’s continued commitment to regulation and policy development.

About Iris Van der Veken
Iris has more than 15 years of experience in the diamond and jewellery industry as an expert in transformation management, strategic leadership and implementation of sustainability practices globally. She was a member representative on the Standards Committee for the Diamond Trader, Cutter and Polisher Forum for the Responsible Jewelry Council. She initiated and chaired the Global Compact Network Belgium. In April 2014 Iris was awarded Officer of the Order of Leopold II for her work on promoting corporate social responsibility internationally. She is a member of the faculty of the Antwerp Management School.
